A Minimalist Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day.

I love you.

I’ve taken the time to put my love for you into words. I’ve scribbled my affection onto a note, folded it into a card, and sealed it in an envelope.

Or I depicted my love in a drawing in the back of my sketchbook.

Or I dipped a paintbrush in love and stroked it all over blank canvas.

Or I found love in a photograph of us and had it framed, so that you can wake up to our love each morning.

Maybe love guided my needle through thread, and I hope it now keeps you warm.

Maybe I cooked a meal out of love, affection, and that sauce you like. Yes, that’s your favorite love song playing. Can you hear my love in its notes?

I hugged you with all the love two arms can hold this morning. It’s love that will hold you through the night.

I don’t keep around many things, and I don’t buy many gifts either, but I keep love in abundance, and today it’s all for you.
